Why I Am Here

Why I Am Here

People will eventually ask why I create the things I do.

Why the forests?
Why the lanterns?
Why the gold-filled cracks?
Why so many reminders to rest, to hope, to begin again?

The answer is simple.

Because I needed them first.

Life has a way of changing us. Sometimes slowly, almost unnoticed. Sometimes all at once.

Like many people, I have lived through seasons that reshaped everything I thought I knew about myself. There were years where plans unraveled, health changed, grief arrived uninvited, and the person I expected to become had to make room for someone entirely different.

I learned that survival is not always dramatic.

Sometimes survival looks like making the next doctor’s appointment.

Sometimes it looks like choosing to get out of bed.

Sometimes it looks like creating something beautiful while your world feels anything but.

Somewhere along the way, I stopped asking, “Why is this happening to me?”

Instead, I began asking, “What can I build from here?”

That question became this work.

Grey Street Press.
Seraphina Grey.
The stories.
The music.
The journals.
The quiet corners filled with reminders that healing is rarely linear and hope doesn’t have to be loud to be real.

Everything I create begins with the same belief:

Broken things are not without value.

They simply tell a different story.

You’ll notice that gold appears often throughout my work. It is inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi—the practice of repairing broken pottery with gold instead of hiding the cracks.

I don’t believe our hardest seasons disappear.

I believe they become part of us.

Not as something to be ashamed of, but as evidence that we continued.

That we rebuilt.

That we chose to remain soft in a world that often rewards becoming hard.

If you’ve found your way here carrying grief, chronic illness, exhaustion, uncertainty, or simply the quiet ache of trying to keep going, I hope you’ll stay awhile.

You don’t need to have your life figured out.

You don’t need to pretend you’re okay.

You don’t need to earn your place here.

This little corner of the internet was built for people who are still becoming.

For tired hearts.

For curious souls.

For the slightly feral.

For anyone who has ever wondered whether they still have something beautiful left to give.

I believe you do.

I know that because, despite everything, I discovered I did too.

Thank you for walking this road with me.

May you always find a lantern when the path grows dark.

And if you can’t…

Perhaps we’ll build one together.
